This report details the planning, coordination and strategy of The Saskatoon Inter-Agency Response to COVID-19 (Inter-Agency Response). The Inter-Agency Response formed in March 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Saskatoon and consists of 50+ organizations, including community-based organizations (CBOs) providing front-line services and representatives of government agencies. The report outlines the group’s process of gap identification, resource request from partners and the actions and response to resource gaps, which became the COVID-19 Vulnerable Sector Strategy, charting a path of key supports on priority areas of vulnerability.

How to use this resource:

  • Better understand the gaps and resource needs by Saskatoon organizations serving vulnerable communities during the COVID-19 pandemic March – May 2020.
  • Understand the several types of support activity engaged in by the Inter-Agency, each responding to sector needs that are specific to, or heightened by, COVID-19.
  • Engage in discussion regarding the ongoing concerns, policy gaps, and resource challenges faced by the individual CBOs and the Inter-Agency Response to COVID-19 during the period of March-May 2020 and after, which require attention
  • Advocate for policies which do not allow CBOs to become the victims of austerity, especially given the critical role they played in shielding Saskatoon and Saskatchewan from potential disaster.
